Bedford has been awarded an Energy Efficiency and Block Grant (EECBG)
sub-grant in the amount of $150,000 for its grant application seeking
funds to establish Thermal Efficiency at the Lane School. Funds for
this award were made available by the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 through the US Department of Energy's
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant program. The
Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER)
developed and is responsible for administering this sub-grant program.
The award is intended to provide an incentive to districts working to
create a green energy future for the Commonwealth. DOER and its Green
Communities Division will work with Bedford to implement the Lane
School project.
Special thanks to Richard Jones, Director of Facilites, and Brenda
Kelly, a member of Bedford's Energy Task Force for procuring this
competitive grant for our schools.

- Paint Brown Green
(join on FaceBook)

The objective of Paint Brown Green is to make MA Senator Scott Brown
recommit to climate action. We will do this by pointing out the
economic and ecological benefits of switching away from fossil
fuels. Our plan of action is to provide him with continuous
informative emails, phone calls, letters, and visits.
Climate change will not wait until 2012, and neither can we. We don't
need a democrat to get climate action. It's time to roll up our
sleeves and PAINT BROWN GREEN!

The Leadership Campaign
-
The science is clear: We need to act now. World leaders gathered in
Copenhagen, Denmark in December, 2009 and failed to agree on a
binding, aggressive, and fair global treaty. Our leaders in congress
have similalry failed to act, but individuals across Massachusetts are
standing up and declaring their leadership. Students, Businesspeople,
Clergy, and Legislators. We will not stop until our state commits to
repowering with 100% Clean Electricity by 2020.
